Host Arrival Guide

Recommended arrival time is not later than 9:00. While you can be ready to go faster than that, if issues arrise, you want to be able to address them. The steps are in the order of how Bryce had done them but they are not required to be in this order, except where noted.

 

  1. As early as possible, reboot the main network router.
    1. Verify that there are no current tasks happening in the booth that require an internet connection. 
    2. Look ever at the kids check-in station in the south foyer to make sure it is clear of parents.
    3. Open Firefox – You can find a shortcut in the “favorites” toolbar or go to 192.168.1.1 and login. The login info should be saved in the browser.
    4. Switch to the Advanced tab. The top left square has a button to reboot. Push it. Wait patiently for your computer to show it has internet again (look at the toolbar in the top right of the screen to see when the wifi indicator shows a signal).
  2. Go to the Church Online platform by clicking the link or using the shortcut in the “favorites” bar.
    1. Log in and click “Go to Admin” toward the top of the left sidebar.
    2. Click “Services” on the left sidebar. – You should see a list of the next upcoming services, including the current Sunday. (Note: The default filter will show you the next 4. You can adjust as needed.)
    3. For today, click “Edit Content” on the right.
    4. Update the series and message title in the title field.
      Example: Series Title // Message Title (no spaces between the slashes but a single space on each side of the pair) This can change if y’all like something better but it should remain consistent between Church Online and Restream.
    5. Verify the service duration is 1 hour 30 min and that there are 5 minutes tacked on at each end.
    6. Scroll down to the Video field and copy the entire contents of the field (iframe code). You will need this in just a second.
    7. Scroll the rest of the way down and click Save.
    8. The last Service in the list should have a different button on the right that says “Add Content.” Click it.
    9. In the title field, add “Sunday Morning Service.”
    10. Change the service duration to 1 hour 30 min and put 5 min before AND after.
    11. Scroll to the Video field and paste the iframe code that you copied in step 2.6.
    12. Scroll the rest of the way down and click “Save.”
  3. Open Restream Chat.

  4. Position your windows how you’d like them.

  5. Log into Facebook and/or YouTube if you would like.
    You may also use your personal device to interact as yourself if you would like. *Please do not engage in private messages on social media. If anyone needs private conversation, use the private prayer chat on the Church Online platform.
  6. You’re ready to go!
Service Time

This is the easy part. Just welcome people, interact, have fun. Don’t overthing it. For the most part, it’s just like you’d interract with someone onsite. The only difference is that everyone “hears” conversation. Use vague language where privacy can be an issue. Err on the side of privacy. You can follow up with specifics personally later.

When you drop the message into chat to go over to the Church Online Platform, make sure you monitor the “Host Chat” section. Requests will show in there. You will need to accept the chat request to engage.

Simply ask how you can pray with them. Allow the time for them to type and when you see it come through, make sure you’re fully reading it and understanding. This would be the chat version of active listening.

After reading, make an empathetic statement regarding what they’re working through. This assures them that you care, you understand, and they’re not alone. Then just type out a prayer for them.

Trust yourself here. You are in this role because you are trusted and capable. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through you here just as if you were praying with someone face to face at the altar.
